Ride leader: Janell Saunders

Members: Steve Palinscar, Linda and Marc Blackman, Robin Garnett, Sheila Harron, William Loewe, Ken Meredith, Ron Leak, Karen Morgan, Esther Steward, Patricia Walthers.

Weather: overcast and slightly muggy temp ranges in the upper 70s

AMS: varied, around 12 but some faster

Mechanicals/Mishaps: one flat tire on Baptist Church Road

Route: Laurel Grove and Chaptico

Report: Every ride started on the 3 Notch Trail for a stop at Baggett Park, after which we returned and headed on Laurel Grove for the rest of the ride on quiet and pleasant roads. Some of the group had not been on these roads before and commented on the beauty and pleasantness of the area. We continued on local roads with a turn onto Pin Cushion and then to a nice stretch on Sunnyside, passing the Alpaca farm that were out enjoying the weather as well. Turning left on 242 we headed to the rest stop at 7th District Park and the first real hill entering the park. It was measured at 10 - 11% grade and we all felt it, except Steve P with his new electric bike, zooming past us all on the way up. We continued on to Maddox, Bushwood (with another bit of climbing), then Hurry Rd to Chaptico and on to Baptist Church Rd. After the turn, a rider in the back got a flat but turned out she was near a home having a birthday party and was able to wait for a pickup there, enjoying the festivities as well. The rest of us headed back to the start using the 3 Notch Trail. All enjoyed the ride and the newcomers found another great place to visit again.
