Leader:   Ron Altemus

Members:  (l-r) Gene Villiva, Joan Oppel, Steve Palincsar in front of George Mason's Gunston Hall.

Route:     https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32681666  27.6 miles, 738' elevation change.  A leisurely tour of Mason Neck, starting at Gunston Elementary and doing an out and back on Belmont Blvd for views of Belmont Bay, then following the Mason Neck trail to Mason Neck State Park.  After a rest stop at the park, heading east on Gunston Road to tour the Hallowing Point and Gunston Manor communities.  Returning to the trail, short excursions into Gunston Hall, Pohick Bay Park, and the Pohick Bay Golf Course.

Weather:  plenty of sunshine and blue skies; temps starting in the upper 70s, climbing to the mid 80s; 10-11 mph breezes out of the ESE, which when noticeable, kept the humidity from being overwhelming.

AMS:   about 11 mph

Mechanicals/Mishaps:   Steve got an error message on his power unit just before the climb after the park, but a quick disconnect/reinstall solved whatever non-existent problem which had been falsely reported.

Report:  Good weather, good scenery, and good company making for a most enjoyable ride.  Surprisingly, most of the route was new territory to Steve.  Traffic, for those sections on road, was light; we did not encounter any other cyclists on the trail portions of our ride.
