Come join me on my birthday ride. I considered trying to develop a route exactly 81 km long but finally decided that close enough and a bit over was good enough if the route was interesting, and this one is. We'll take the Three Notch Trail to Baggett Park, then ride though the Loveville Mennonite area to Leonardtown, stopping at Social on Fenwick for lunch. From there we'll go south to Fairgrounds, then take Brown and Hickory Hill stopping at Bradfords Neighborhood Market before heading up Macintosh to Clover Hill, across MD-235 to Sandgates, then back to Kavanaugh and Laurel Grove and the Three Notch Trail back to the start. 55 miles, 2428' elevation gain.

Or, if 55 miles in the middle of a hot July seems a bit much, there's an easy way to make it a 36 mile ride: start at John Baggett Park. The main route will be stopping there at mile 13 (so, arriving somewhere around 10:30-10:45). Follow the identical route until the 55 mile route arrives at Laurel Grove Rd and the Three Notch Trail, and instead of going left to head to Mechanicsville Elementary School, turn right, go a half mile and you're back to your car.
