Report- The nice February weather brought riders out to join me on this modified Starbucks Espresso route. A variation from the usual, this route has us first crossing MD 210 (Indian Head Hwy), avoiding Berry Rd with its accompanying traffic. Backroads took us from Accokeek to Bryans Rd, to the first climb, a short steep section of Chapman's Landing Rd. The beauty of this is it's a very lightly traveled road that parallels Indian Head Hwy, taking us to a more rural part of Charles County. Our first stop was at the Pisgah store, past the artful display of colorfully painted bicycles in the yard and bordering the driveway of a house along the way. Once back on the bikes, we rode to the IHRT, where we stopped briefly for a porta-potty break. We enjoyed the flat IHRT, knowing this easy segment of the ride would come to an abrupt end with the climb up Bumpy Oak Rd, the most challenging climb of this route. Once that climb was behind us, we enjoyed the remaining few miles back to the parking lot, which included short sections on the wide shoulder of Indian Head Hwy as well as roads paralleling it. Totally enjoyed this route and the company of those who joined me on a very nice February afternoon.
