When a group approaches a cross street, there are usually shouts of "Clear." The League of American Bicyclists warns against this practice, because it can create a false sense of security. Because of the speed that some cars travel at, someone who is not very far in back of the "clear" shouter, may not take the precaution of looking both ways and find that a car is bearing down on them. The only shouts that should be made when crossing a road are:
"Car Left!" or "Car Right!"
