This ride will take us east and west across Calvert County for views of the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River. We’ll begin at Route 260 Recreation Area (portolet but no water or shade) and take country roads to a snack & bathroom stop at Chesapeake Market a third of the way through the ride. We'll then go through North Beach and into Chesapeake Beach where we'll ride the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail (paved except for 500 feet of gravel), then up the hills and west across the county and down to the historic town of Lower Marlboro. We'll take Flint Hill Road (short steep hill but walkable) unless it’s still being paved and stop at the Fairview Library (bathrooms and water bottle filling machine). We’ll take Old Solomons Island Road to Friendship, and Wilson and Jewell to Chaney Rd rarely used by cyclists.
