This ride will take us through southern Anne Arundel county to a park in Shady Side with nice views of the Chesapeake Bay and Bay Bridge. We’ll begin at Route 260 Recreation Area (portolet but no water) and head north on Fishers Station and Little roads. Route 258 (nice shoulder) will take us to Churchton and we’ll stop at the Royal Farms for food/drinks to take to the park. The ride leader will bring panniers in case what you buy is too big for your bag. It’s a flat ride from there to the north end of Shady Side where we’ll visit Jack Creek Park. We’ll take the 1/2 mile smooth hard-packed fine gravel dusty road toward the water to a nice beach to get views of the Chesapeake Bay and Bay Bridge and eat our snacks. Portolet here, but no water. To get back to the cars, we’ll take Sudley and Nutwell roads (7.6% grade here is accurate), then Route 2 south to Jewell Road. We’ll cross Route 260 to ride on a fun little road called Chaney Rd, then take Routes 4 and 260 a short distance back to the cars.
