The Terry Wild Goose Chase is a women's event sponsored by the Terry company to raise funds for the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge.  This is a 2 day event:  Terry clothing, seats, etc. available at discount prices; raffles; kayaking available; guided wildlife tour on Saturday; optional dinner with Georgena Terry Saturday night; and 4 supported bike routes on Sunday.

I missed the registration deadline and had to call Terry Co to see if there was on-site available-- yes, just bring a check made to 'Wild Goose Chase'.  I went up on Sunday morning. Though not pre-registered, I was still given the 'official' Wild Goose Chase socks and t shirt, numbered armband for the 2 big ticket raffles, and several tickets for small item raffles. The start time was any time you want to roll before 10 am--be back before 3:30.  It was perfect riding weather -- 72 degrees & sunny but there was a breeze that made the first part of the ride seem a bit uphill!   The rest stops were the usual fare with very friendly volunteers. The 42 mile route I chose took me through some beautiful areas.  Though not there to bird watch, I stopped a few times to admire the wildlife and was able to get a beautiful close up of a bald eagle.  At 3:30 there were drawings for the 2 big items -- a Goretex riding suit and a Terry commuter bicycle; smaller raffle items were drawn and posted earlier.  Everything was over at 3:30 after the presentation of a check from Georgena to the Blackwater Wildlife representative--the sale tent, barbecue truck, ice cream, bicycle repair.

Wonderful day, nice people, worthy cause.   I will do this again next year.
