Route: Chaptico Park, Chaptico, MD, to the Strawberry Festival. D/11 mi.
Weather: Delightful! Sunny with mild temps—upper 70s. Some wind.
AMS: 10.2 mph
Mechanicals/Mishaps: No mechanicals, but Diana had to bail at the Strawberry Festival due to allergy-related breathing issues.
Report: Half of the people who signed up for the ride were no-shows, but they missed out on a pleasant ride and an even more enjoyable experience at the Strawberry Festival. We met up with cyclists from other Oxon Hill rides and shared stories and strawberry treats. There was also a group from La Plata, Get It In (GII), who rode to the festival.
Big picture-wise, there was a total of 19 cyclists at the Strawberry Festival. The first wave of 10 arrived early enough for Father Peter’s 1 pm Blessing of the Bikes. An abbreviated blessing was held for the second wave of longer distance riders who arrived later in the afternoon.
Diana was rescued and is doing much better.
All in all, it was a great afternoon!
