Leader: Ron Altemus (who took pictures of the other four groups and never got a picture of the trail riders!!!)
Members: Paul Adams, Pat Colvin, Mark Garrison, Deidre Hardy, Harry Kidd, Bob Rourke, Gene Villiva
Guests: Kim MacDonald, Geneva Wigfall
Route: Indian Head Rail Trail from the Village Green to White Plains for a rest stop and then return to awaiting watermelon
Weather: very nice - sunshine mixed with clouds, temp range of upper 70s to low 80s, bearable humidity, enough breeze out of the SW to provide a bit of cooling
AMS: varied by rider; swept in the low 11s
Mechanicals/Mishaps: on the return, two riders in different instances took tumbles at the Livingston Road parking lot. One fell slowly into the grass and was unhurt except for their pride; the other unfortunately fell onto gravel and drew blood. Mark had his "crash kit" with him and was able to provide a correctly sized bandage to cover the wound successfully.
Report: a bit of confusion in the sign-up process (two 26 miler rides listed) prompted some to sign up for the Pisgah ride but they changed over to IHRT, cutting Jackie's number in half while doubling the IHRT contingent.
We had a new member and two guests, as noted above. As with any club ride on the IHRT, lots of riding in pairs and socializing from one end of the trail to the other. Plenty of other trail users including families with small children bicycling or in strollers, lots of walkers/runners, and numerous cyclists. Wildlife sightings included painted turtles, a small deer, a 4-6 point male deer, and a 4' eastern rat snake. The latter brought a number of riders to a complete stop, unwilling to ride past it until it was encouraged to leave the trail for the vegetation alongside.
The highlight of the ride was the return to delicious watermelon served up to Jackie Schoch in the shade on the Village Green:

Jackie serving to Deidre, Kim, and Harry.
Bob and Paul enjoyed their watermelon as Gene looks on.
Special thanks to Harry Kidd and Mark Garrison for their help in providing assistance to our riders. And a big shout out to Jackie for the watermelon!
