We Won!!!
The daily temperatures, high humidity levels, and heat index's (Real Feel) have been very intense this month. Upper 90's and 3 digit real feel temperatures were beginning to be the norm. Although my Garmin is telling me that I am 100% acclimated to the conditions, I am still HOT and UNCOMFORTABLE! Wanting to get in a ride before all of the above ramped up, I decided that an early ride was best. Linda Bankerd, Donaro Gardner, and Sue Gunter, OHBTC members joined me.
As forecasted, the humidity was already high. We could begin to feel the heat starting to rise as we were nearing the end. We did win the battle, but the the weather gods won the war with the continued heat being forecasting of extreme weather conditions.
All said the ride was of a comfortable pace with plenty of respites. Finishing the ride in a little over 3 hours, and no reported mishaps/mechanical issues all were relieved to have finished before the air quality became unbearable.
Beginning the ride early, I thought was a good idea. "We Beat The Heat".
BTW, at the last rest stop, I asked if anybody wanted to extend the ride and add 4 more miles by going up Barry's Hill, there were no takers.
