Route: Indian Head Rail Trail west from Livingston Road parking lot to Mattingly Rd trailhead, retrace east to White Plains trailhead, back west to start.
Weather: rain stopping minutes before ride start so air was moist at 46 degrees and overcast. As the day progressed, the sun broke through so by ride's end, up to mid 50s with blue skies. Breezes out of the SW 5-7 mph.
AMS: low 12s
Mechanicals/Mishaps: none
Report: with the morning rain, a number cancelled leaving Gene and I as the only riders. After about 1 mile, he said he wasn't feeling great so we returned to the parking lot and he went home. Figuring the day was going to get better (and 2026 miles were scarce up to this point), I decided to do the entire trail.
Maybe a dozen or so other users until I got back to the ride start, none of which were cyclists. But while packing up to leave, two separate riders passed by, both headed west towards Indian Head.
Major wildlife sighting - saw the beaver swimming in the flooded marsh just east of the Livingston Rd parking lot! Otherwise, lots of birds either seen or heard.
The weather ended up as forecast making for a nice ride with a hint of spring. We should hope...
